About
The Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Culture Festival in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do, celebrates the life, thought, and practical-learning (silhak) spirit of scholar Jeong Yak-yong. The 40th edition runs October 17–18, 2026, around the Jeong Yak-yong Historic Site and Dasan Ecological Park. Main programs include a flower- and tea-offering ceremony, the opening ceremony, a special 40th-anniversary fashion show and commemorative concert, a Jeong Yak-yong robot-making contest, and a literary arts contest. On the 17th, designer Lee Sang-bong presents a special fashion show, and on the 18th, Axe, Park Hye-won, and Urban Zakapa perform at the anniversary concert. Hands-on activities include 'Yeoyudang Hunters,' where visitors complete missions around the site to find hidden treasures; a 'digital detox exile experience'; the 'Jeong Yak-yong Future Workshop' featuring AI and robots; and traditional games and hanbok try-ons. There are also busking performances and a market at Dasan Ecological Park, making the festival a mix of Jeong Yak-yong's history and culture, live performances, and hands-on experiences.
