About
As golden fields give way to a cool breeze that makes you pull your collar closer, the Yeonsan Jujube Culture Festival arrives in Yeonsan, the town where the spirit of General Gyebaek still lives on, bringing the sweet taste of jujubes ripened under autumn sun along with warm hospitality. Yeonsan jujubes gained their fame after merchants began buying up jujubes grown throughout Yeonsan-myeon and the nearby areas of Beolgok-myeon, Yangchon-myeon, and Unju-myeon in North Jeolla Province, then selling them on. Yeonsan jujube merchants worked hard to offer only the finest jujubes to customers who came all the way to Yeonsan to buy them, and that reputation for quality spread widely. Today, Yeonsan serves as a hub selling over 40% of all jujubes nationwide, and it continues to grow toward becoming the country's largest production area to match its reputation. To promote Yeonsan's standing as a jujube hub and the excellence of Yeonsan jujubes, the festival lets visitors buy jujubes at low prices and enjoy a variety of events during the festival period.
